"...I just wanted to be part of your... family..."

- Ines to Aya

Ines is one of Alfred Drevis's test subjects, and a minor reoccurring character. Aya encounters her upon arriving at the Basement 3F.

Appearance[]

Ines is a young girl with short dirty-blonde hair, dark green eyes, and pale skin. She wore a white sleeveless dress, and is always seen with a smile.

When Ines was alive, her appearance was much healthier, her hair was a more vibrant color, and her eyes were more focused. Before she was taken in to live at the Drevis Mansion, she wore a tattered green dress.

Personality[]

Ines is a mischievous and playful individual who has a tendency to giggle. She seems to like animals, as she's seen attempting to befriend a mouse at one point in the game.

Ines also has a strong desire to be a part of Aya's family, possibly due to being an orphan for most of her life.

History[]

Prior to Mad Father[]

Ines used to live out on the streets as an orphan thief, stealing what she could to survive. One day, her thievery was caught, resulting in the young girl being tossed towards the ground before getting beaten by the person she offended. A man named Alfred Drevis witnessed this play out, and decided to take her in to live with him at his mansion.

While living there, Alfred told Ines that she's now part of his family. He even introduced her to his newborn daughter, Aya. As Ines held the young girl in her arms, she expressed joy at becoming a big sister.

However, some time later, while sitting on a table in the Basement 1F Laboratory, Ines met her end when Alfred arrived in the room with his chainsaw and cut her legs off.

During the events of Mad Father[]

Following Monika Drevis coming back as a vengeful ghost and placing a curse upon the mansion, Ines, among many other test subjects and dolls, come back to life. While clearly upset at Alfred lying to her about becoming part of his family, she expresses no interest in helping the others obtain revenge on him, and is content doing her own thing.

Ines makes her first appearance in the Basement 1F Storehouse Entrance, standing in front of the door to the Storehouse. As Aya draws close, she disappears. After Aya's pet rabbit Snowball recovers either the lighter oil (original version) or some wire (2020 remake) from the Storehouse, Aya's lamp goes out for a bit. After she manages to turn it back on, Ines is seen peering over her shoulder before vanishing.

Ines is then seen in the Basement 3F Left Private Room. She snatches the perfume Aya has on hand and tries some on. Aya wakes up, and though she's initially frightened by her, notices that Ines smells like her mother. Realizing the perfume is gone, the young girl demands Ines to return the perfume, but Ines simply runs off giggling. In the Basement 3F Right Private Room, Ines hides the perfume behind some boards before attempting to befriend a rat, but the perfume's smell only results in it running away. Aya then charges into her and once again demands her to return it, but Ines simply giggles and tells Aya to look for it before running off.

In the Basement 3F Outside Lab, Ines witnesses Aya's attempt to head into the laboratory, only to be stopped by a creepy-looking doll, who prevents the young girl from going in further via a magical barrier. Ines reveals herself and informs Aya that if she wants to get rid of the barrier, she has to burn the doll up. The doll yells at Ines to stop, but the girl simply runs off giggling once more.

Ines then leads Aya to the Tunnels, where the Incinerator is located. At Tunnels Incinerator Room, a bunch of dolls gang up on Ines and stab her with various knives and scalpels as revenge for turning on them and assisting Aya. Aya approaches her and pulls the one of the scalpels out of her chest, after which Ines shows Aya a vision of her life before she came to the mansion. Once the vision ends, Ines's legs are now gone, and her last words are expressing her desire to be part of Aya's family. Aya solemnly apologizes as Ines fades away.

During the events of Blood Mode[]

While Ines doesn't make a physical appearance, a few illusions of her appear throughout the recreation of the infamous night that changed Aya's life.

The first illusion of Ines is seen at the Basement 3F Left Private Room. After Aya wakes up after her encounter with the ghost of Jean Rooney, she notices her perfume is gone. As she recalls a similar thing happening long ago, Ines is seen running by and out the door, to which Aya happily expresses that she remembers her too.

The second illusion of Ines is seen at the Basement 3F Outside Laboratory. After Aya picks up the Creepy Doll, Ines appears and once again leads Aya to the Tunnels.

The third and final illusion of Ines is seen at the Tunnels Incinerator Room. Once Aya disposes of the Creepy Doll, Ines can be seen sitting atop of a barrel while kicking her legs. As Aya approaches her, Ines glances at Aya before fading away.

Relationships[]

Alfred Drevis[]

Alfred is Ines's adoptive father. Ines was happy to be taken in to live with him at the mansion, even more so when he told her that she's now part of his family. After he had betrayed her trust and claimed her legs, her opinion on him seems to have worsened, though not to the point where she was willing to seek revenge on him with the other revived Test Subjects.

Monika Drevis[]

Monika is Ines's adoptive mother. They're never seen interacting, so their relationship is unknown.

Aya Drevis[]

Aya is Ines's adoptive younger sister. When Ines was first introduced to an infant Aya, she quickly took a shine to her, thrilled at becoming a big sister. Even after she was killed and brought back to life by Monika's curse, Ines still held some fondness towards Aya and tried to help her out. That being said, this fondness didn't stop her from stealing Monika's perfume from Aya and later hiding it, though this could be seen as her simply teasing Aya akin to an older sister towards her younger one.

Trivia[]

  • In the original Japanese version, Ines wasn't given a name, though in the game's coding she was referred to as "Coron." Thus, VGPerson used this as her name in the initial translation. She was eventually given the name "Ines" around the time the game's light novel came out, and this name was kept for later translations, as well as the 2020 remake.[1]
